SCDEW Update - April 30, 2021

2.      Here is a requirement in federal law that claimants  on the federal PUA (Pandemic Unemployment Assistance) program must provide proof of employment by May 5^th or else benefits will be stopped and they will have to repay funds received. These are claimants that certified that they did have employment that was impacted by Covid and they are simply being required to show documentation that they actually had employment or self-employment prior to filing. This video explains the background and has been shared with the media. Claimants have been contacted multiple times through multiple methods about this mandatory requirement with the approaching deadline.

3.      In addition claimants must now do their two weekly online work searches. The agency gave claimants a grace period last week and there were a lot of people that would have been disqualified.
