According to an announcement from a White House official earlier today, the US is lifting coronavirus travel restrictions for fully vaccinated travelers on November 8.

This announcement applies to international air and land travel.

Air travel: Starting November 8, international air travelers coming to the US must be fully vaccinated. They will need to show proof of their vaccination status and must provide proof of a negative COVID test taken within three days prior to boarding an airplane. According to the latest reporting, the CDC plans to issue new rules on contact tracing for international air travelers soon.

Land and ferry US border travel: Similarly, beginning November 8, international visitors entering the US for non-essential reasons either by land from Canada or Mexico, or by passenger ferry, are required to be fully vaccinated. Visitors should be prepared to show proof of vaccination status to US Customs and Border Protection officers. Starting in January, international travelers entering at a land border or ferry crossing for both essential and non-essential reasons are required to be fully vaccinated.

This official date means that international visitors who have been dreaming of their next trip to the US can now make those plans a reality – and South Carolina looks forward to welcoming them.
