Volunteers are needed at 8:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Each shift is 3.5 hours.

The South Carolina ProStart Invitational is an annual competition hosted by South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Education Foundation (SCRLEF). The competition includes both Restaurant Management and Culinary divisions. This year's competition will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Columbia.

The Culinary Competition will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. This requires students to demonstrate knife skills incorporated into cooking a three-course meal in 60 minutes with only two butane burners, two eight-foot tables and no electricity or running water.

The Management Competition will take place from 12:45 to 2:00 p.m. Students develop a brand new restaurant concept to pitch to a panel of industry and post-secondary judges, complete with critical thinking and verbal presentation rounds during this competition.

Volunteer Training:

• Volunteer training will be held prior to the competition on the afternoon of March 4, 2022 via zoom.  It is important for both new and veteran judges and volunteers participate in this training session so that we can go over the changes made to this years competition.
  
  
• If you have a major conflict that will prohibit you from being able to attend the training, please contact us as soon as you can, and I will work with you on a one-on-one basis.

Attire: 

• Attire for the competition itself, we encourage volunteers to dress in business attire. (chef volunteers may wear their chef coat)
