February 27, 2021--

As you likely saw, the House passed the American Rescue Plan Act which includes both the $25 billion Restaurant Revitalization Fund and the Raise the Wage Act (even though the Senate Parliamentarian has ruled it cannot remain in if the Senate considers the legislation under reconciliation rules).

Below you’ll find Sean’s press statement for your reference.  Please let us know if you have any questions.

“Tonight’s House passage of the American Rescue Plan Act means the $25 billion Restaurant Revitalization Fund is one step closer to being a reality. It’s a huge win for struggling restaurants in every community – and one that we have been focused on from the beginning of the pandemic.”

“The inclusion of the Raise the Wage Act will needlessly harm tipped servers and restaurants when they are most at risk of closing their doors for good. We need an agreement that supports the return of the restaurant jobs needed for local economies to recover from the pandemic, but that doesn’t penalize our workers or slow our rebuilding. We will continue to work with Congress to find this solution.”  -- Sean Kennedy, Executive VP, Public Affairs, National Restaurant Association
